For my BFA Show at the University of Iowa my main goal was to combine my love for music with my passion for design. Thus, Television was born! A full length album that was 100% recorded, mixed, and mastered by me. Armed with a guitar, bass, drum pad, and a lack of almost any knowledge of how to record music, I set off to create my favorite, and most labor intensive project to date. While recording, I noticed that each song I created was vastly different in style from the last, just like watching a TV and flipping through the channels. Once most of the music was done, the artwork followed. I fully designed the packaging for a standard, deluxe and box set versions of the album, and all of the environmental work to transform my Art Building West Gallery space into a snapshot of my own life. I also worked on creating a merch stand with fully customized and printed merchandise, marketing materials to get people to the show, and a process book explaining the meaning behind each song.
